Licensing

Filed under: Mob Wars, Monsters Enhancer, Packrat — Piotr P. Karwasz @ 9:19 pm

Since I’ve stumbled across a site which offers scripts similar in features to those you find on this site, but for a fee, I would like to elucidate about the licensing of my scripts.

They are all released under GNU General Public Licence version 2 or (at your choice) later. They are free of charge and provided without any warranty (even implied). I’ll do my best to resolve all the problems on this blog.

However if you wish to make a donation, you are welcome to do so. They will help me maintaining this site and coding new script features. Here are some methods you can use:

  • A popular way to send money over the Internet.

  • Moneybookers: Moneybookers has fees a lot smaller than Paypal and thus it’s the preferred way to send donations. My e-mail address on the site is piotr AT karwasz DOT org.
  • You can also pick something from my Amazon Wishlist.

Remember to include your name or nickname and an e-mail address so that I can thank contributors personally and dedicate new releases to them :-).

This site also displays ads to support itself, but since Google AdSense pays on a per-click rather than per-view basis I won’t see any money until 2020 :-)

Facebook Monsters Enhancer (version 1.1)

Filed under: Monsters Enhancer — Piotr P. Karwasz @ 12:22 am

In order to improve the main workflow of the code, we made a big rewrite of the Facebook Monsters Enhancer script>. Version 1.1 works more smoothly, takes less space in your Firefox preferences and has a couple of new features:

  • Clan members that did not fed you for a couple of days (3, but you can change this by modifying TOLERANCE_TIME in the script’s code) are replaced with active members taken from your clan’s feed history. We try to achieve this way always 8 people feeding your monster every day.
  • The delay for next fight is now much more reliable and so are the number of attacks.
  • The different cycles can now begin on any page and when your script finished the automatic function you can browse monster pages without being always brought back to the monster’s profile.

Since the interest in this game has faded, we won’t probably release any new versions of the script, except bug fixes.

User Scripts FAQ

Filed under: GreaseMonkey, Mob Wars, Monsters Enhancer, Packrat — Piotr P. Karwasz @ 1:01 am

Many people message me with problems in installing the user scripts in their browsers. Here is a little FAQ to help you out:

  • How do I install (GreaseMonkey) user scripts?: You have just to follow these simple steps:
    1. Make sure you use Firefox as your browser. If you don’t have it yet you can dowload it here.
    2. Install the GreaseMonkey Firefox add-on.
    3. Click on the link of the user script. A confirmation dialog for the installation should pop-up. Press the ‘Install’ button and you are done.

You can find a more detailed walk-through in the Greasemonkey Manual. A common mistake is to still try using Internet Explorer even after the installation of Firefox, I can show you my logs to convince you that people fall into this trap. Yes, downloading Firefox is not enough, you have to use it.

  • When and how should I reinstall the scripts?: The only reason you should ever reinstall a script is if the data stored in your browser becomes inconsistent (for example during an upgrade). If such is the case check the script commands (Tools > GreaseMonkey > Script Commands) to see if there is a command like “Reset preferences”. If you don’t find any you can uninstall the script and install it again, but while uninstalling don’t forget to check the “Also uninstall associated preferences” checkbox: without that your reinstall is useless.
  • What about privacy?: User scripts are installed in your browser, store data on your computer (Firefox preferences) and no information gathered is ever sent. At least this is the policy of my scripts. You can find malicious user scripts on the web, so stay away from them. Some of my scripts (notably the PackRat script) need to download daily a database from my server, I use the number of hits to know the number of daily users.
  • Where can I find other user scripts?: A great resource is UserScripts.org, all my scripts have a page there and you can easily search the site for anything you want.
  • I would like a script for the … application, what should I do?: If it is a Facebook application post a feature request on the Facebook GreaseMonkey SourceForge tracker. We’ll try to answer you as soon as possible. Otherwise ask on the UserScripts.org forums.

Facebook Monsters Enhancer (version 1.0)

Filed under: GreaseMonkey, Monsters Enhancer — Piotr P. Karwasz @ 7:06 pm

After more than a month without releases, we eventually published version 1.0 of our script. The release focuses mainly on one big feature (mostly written by ViXaY): you can now buy stuff automatically.

If you enable Auto-buy the script will automatically purchase shields and boom sticks if you have enough money to buy them and you don’t already have them.

This version allows you to do every action that the game have automatically. There will be probably no more versions of the script unless you have a brilliant idea that needs implementing. Happy fighting to you all!

Facebook Monsters Enhancer (version 1.0-beta)

Filed under: GreaseMonkey, Monsters Enhancer — Piotr P. Karwasz @ 2:52 pm

We are proud to release the first beta version of the Facebook Monsters Enhancer. Among other improvements we feature:

  • You can now feed from your friends list as well: the script will use it as a fallback if your feeding history doesn’t contain enough monsters.
  • Your clan is now displayed on the bottom of your feeding history and feeding mainpage.
  • The menu was removed and all items moved into the facebook page. Just hover over the game’s menu and see what happens :-)

You can also report bugs, submit patches and request features on the Project’s Homepage.

Facebook Monsters Enhancer (version 1.0-alpha2)

Filed under: GreaseMonkey, Monsters Enhancer — Piotr P. Karwasz @ 10:51 pm

I am happy to announce the release of the first usable version of Facebook Monsters Enhancer. It is a script based upon ViXaY Xavier’s enhancer that helps you to play the Facebook applications Slayers, Werewolves, Vampires and Zombies. It features functions to automatically feed monsters (based upon the feed history) and attack foes. All this without manual intervention.

If you use this script, please leave your feedback as comments.

Attention: version 1.0-alpha that I posted on Userscripts earlier this evening has a little bug that renders it unusable.

  • Has an autoattack function. It means that you will automatically attack monsters up to twice your power and use all your daily attacks.
