After several months since the first 0.1 release we are proud to present you the first release candidate for version 1.0. The major improvement from the last beta release is the new stealing module that allows you to steal valuable cards from rats and upgrade the cards you need so that whenever you need to steal something important you’ll have a 7000 points card in your pack.
Another improvement is the way the script decides which cards to steal/buy/pick-up as pop-ups: you’ll have three choices, all cards from selected collections, an automatically generated list of missing cards or a fully personalized list.
Changelog:
- New stealing module to steal important cards from Rats only and upgrade your droppable cards.
- You can select which cards you don’t need under the collection preferences.
- Shopping lists: fully personalized choice of the shopping list for the steal, stalk and pop-up module.
- A configurable delay for the stalking module and the amount of free space to leave in the pack.
- A Pause/Resume button for Brian, in additional to the traditional PAUSE shortcut.
- Many small changes and bug fixes.

[Update: Version 1.0-rc1.1 corrects the glitch reported in comment #3]
[This version of the script is OBSOLETE. For more informations and newer versions check the PackRat Helper category.]
A couple of days ago I started working on the ‘Market stalking’ feature. For this purpose I had to parse the information contained in the excellent PackRat Wiki and transform it into a format usable by the script.
We are now proud to present version 1.0-beta of the script.
Changelog:
- The highlighting module can now highlight either all the cards from selected collections or just the missing cards and the ingredients for missing cards from your Vault and Pack. In the previous versions only missing cards from your Vault where highlighted. So (unless there are errors in the card database) only the cards you really need are highlighted.
- There is a database of known cards, recipes and markets where you can purchase them. The database is downloaded daily, but if you want to force an update go to Tools > GreaseMonkey > Script Commands “Update collections database”
- A market stalking module was added. This means that the script can buy all the cards that you need in order to complete the collection automatically.
- Some pop-up recognition problems where solved.
- The grinding feature was improved.
- The script updates your pack’s content on many pages (Make, Steal, Your Pack and Purchase). Before it only did it on the ‘Your Pack’ page. Note that when you purchase a card you must still go to Your Pack in order to make it available for grinding: the ID number of the card you bought don’t appear on the Purchase page.
- There were some changes to stealing made by the PackRat developers. The script takes them into account (meaning that grinding will work again).
The script takes the names of the cards from the name of the image files (they are the only ones available on every page). The PackRat developers added some misspellings to the names of the images (either on purpose or probably by mistake), so some informations in the database may be wrong.
We need your help: to identify the misspelled cards in the database, please go to about:config and look for the key ‘packrat*missing’. It contains the names of the cards that are not in the database. Please go to your vault and then report the entries from the collections you have completed as comments (and check the other comments too in order not to duplicate the information).
If you appreciate this release and were hesitating about making a donation, don’t hesitate any more
. The database will need a daily update from now on, with the new collections coming and other corrections.

ATTENTION: for those who are upgrading you may consider forcing the update of the collections database (which was previously scheduled every week) with Tools > GreaseMonkey > Script Commands > Update collections database.

[Update: Version 1.0-beta2 solves the problem with selecting multiple collections]
[This version of the script is obsolete. For more informations check the PackRat Helper category.]
After some changes in the Facebook application the ‘popup’ module of this script stopped working properly. This new version corrects this bug and adds two new modules: ‘highlight’ and ‘grinding’.
Changelog
- Corrected the malfunction in the ‘popup’ module.
- Added a way to specify the standard delay for actions (in the preferences).
- Added a menu command (accessible via Tools > GreaseMonkey > Script Commands) that resets the database and is totally equivalent to reinstalling the script.
- Added a ‘highlight’ module like in the 0.4 series: missing cards from selected collections are highlighted and moved in front of the pack.
- Added a ‘Delete cards from completed collections’, that cleans the markets and friend packs from collection that we already finished.
- Added a ‘grinding’ module. When active it will automatically steal cards from friends packs and drop the same card instead. It can be useful for low level characters to level up.
- (Version 0.10.3) From this version you have to go to Your Friends page at least once to give the script the chance the read the list of your friends.

[Update: in version 0.10 the 'highlight' module updated the 'credit' preferences...
Version 0.10.2 corrects other minor bugs,
Version 0.10.3 corrects not recognized cards (like 'roulette=wheel')
Version 0.10.4 corrects grinding of mismatched cards.
Version 0.10.5 corrects another "In the Oven" problem.]

Following some comments on my last post I made some adjustments to the script to follow the user preferences. Hence I publish version 0.9.1 of the script.
I wish to thank Arachne, Kriis, Splityarn and JustOneTrack for their contributions.
Changelog
- Browsing is only active on user pages.
- I added a ‘Notes’ field to the script status. It’s where messages like “You must go to X page for Y feature” go.
- The “Pop-up” message when we stumble on pop-ups was deleted. As I already said it was meant only for debugging purpose, I didn’t mean to include it into the release.
- The previous script browsed randomly to the next or previous friend. Since users did not appreciate the random walk, I reverted to the previous behaviour, meaning that the script always goes to the next friend.
- Some minor adjustments around the pause function.

Since I’ve stumbled across a site which offers scripts similar in features to those you find on this site, but for a fee, I would like to elucidate about the licensing of my scripts.
They are all released under GNU General Public Licence version 2 or (at your choice) later. They are free of charge and provided without any warranty (even implied). I’ll do my best to resolve all the problems on this blog.
However if you wish to make a donation, you are welcome to do so. They will help me maintaining this site and coding new script features. Here are some methods you can use:
Remember to include your name or nickname and an e-mail address so that I can thank contributors personally and dedicate new releases to them :-).
This site also displays ads to support itself, but since Google AdSense pays on a per-click rather than per-view basis I won’t see any money until 2020

Since a new feature (”In the oven”) in the PackRat application disrupted the functioning of the script, we publish a rapid fix to this issue. I would like to thank James for his patch.
Facebook Packrat Enhancer: version 0.4.1
Also available on Userscripts.org.
More than two weeks passed since I released version 0.4 of the Facebook Packrat Autoclicker. It is past due time I publish an update of what is going on in the developer’s camp.
First of all I won’t be able to do much work on the script for the next few weeks: my Ph.D. is taking most of my time these days. If another developer wants to help me out he’s welcome to contact me on the project’s SourceForge page. I’d really appreciate that.
Many of the proposed features (highlighting the collections selected by the user, grinding, integration with the wiki) need a more complex configuration window that the one that is available today, so I am completely rewriting this part of the script. At the end you will be able to select the collections and cards you are interested in, the cards in your pack that you want to use in grinding/stealing, etc.
With the multiplication of features the script file will become really huge and complex. It begins already to be difficult to understand how it works,… even for me. So I’ll use a modular approach that will allow me to put the different features into different modules and make module writing as easy as possible. What does it mean: for now you must be patient until the next release, but afterwards adding new features will be as easy as writing a blog post (or easier).
Many people message me with problems in installing the user scripts in their browsers. Here is a little FAQ to help you out:
- How do I install (GreaseMonkey) user scripts?: You have just to follow these simple steps:
- Make sure you use Firefox as your browser. If you don’t have it yet you can dowload it here.
- Install the GreaseMonkey Firefox add-on.
- Click on the link of the user script. A confirmation dialog for the installation should pop-up. Press the ‘Install’ button and you are done.
You can find a more detailed walk-through in the Greasemonkey Manual. A common mistake is to still try using Internet Explorer even after the installation of Firefox, I can show you my logs to convince you that people fall into this trap. Yes, downloading Firefox is not enough, you have to use it.
- When and how should I reinstall the scripts?: The only reason you should ever reinstall a script is if the data stored in your browser becomes inconsistent (for example during an upgrade). If such is the case check the script commands (Tools > GreaseMonkey > Script Commands) to see if there is a command like “Reset preferences”. If you don’t find any you can uninstall the script and install it again, but while uninstalling don’t forget to check the “Also uninstall associated preferences” checkbox: without that your reinstall is useless.
- What about privacy?: User scripts are installed in your browser, store data on your computer (Firefox preferences) and no information gathered is ever sent. At least this is the policy of my scripts. You can find malicious user scripts on the web, so stay away from them. Some of my scripts (notably the PackRat script) need to download daily a database from my server, I use the number of hits to know the number of daily users.
- Where can I find other user scripts?: A great resource is UserScripts.org, all my scripts have a page there and you can easily search the site for anything you want.
- I would like a script for the … application, what should I do?: If it is a Facebook application post a feature request on the Facebook GreaseMonkey SourceForge tracker. We’ll try to answer you as soon as possible. Otherwise ask on the UserScripts.org forums.

The version 0.4 of the Facebook Packrat Enhancer is ready to be used and enjoyed. I would like to personally thank everybody that contributed feedback and new ideas on this blog. Some of the features requested are not yet in this release, but I am working on them.
This version has a couple of new features, that I hope will make you enjoy even more playing Packrat:
- You can now pause the credit gathering cycle by pressing SPACE while the script is looking for money. The keyboard shortcut works only if the browser haven’t yet started to load the next page, so try hitting the space key many times to be sure not to miss the time frame.
- You can now access the script’s Preferences Panel on the right of the ‘Buy From The Markets’ tab.
- You have now an option to ‘Automatically pick up pop-up cards’ in the Preferences Panel.
- There is also an option to ‘Pause gathering cycle when pop-up card shows up’. This option is not compatible with the previous one. I suggest to have one of this options always on, otherwise you’ll miss precious cards. You can deactivate both of them if you wish just to collect credit.
- To collect an arbitrary amount of credit, go to the script’s configuration. The amount is limited to 1000 credit, but you can easily modify the code to whatever amount you want (but be sure to read the comment before the variable MAX_AMOUNT).
